Complex flood mitigation and floodplain revitalisation development in the Bereg
We were involved in the construction of the Upper Tisza flood relief facilities between 2013 and 2015. The aim of the constructed system is to contribute to a 1 m water level reduction along the entire length of the Tisza during flood events, as part of the Vásárhelyi Plan. We have created a 58 million cubic metre capacity flood control reservoir that taps the flood wave at the Tisza’s Tivadar bottleneck (in the Bereg). The system constructed also helps to restore water to the Bereg. The development will improve the safety of 19 settlements directly and 145 indirectly, with a positive impact on some 250,000 people.
