Újpest Railway Bridge

The demolition of the “K” elements of the old railway bridge was carried out by having two floating cranes lift them together, and then we floated the new structural elements to the site. The water transport was carried out in eight floating units between Csepel, where the production took place, and the railway bridge work site. We had to transport a total of seven bridge spans to Újpest, each weighing between 180 and 500 tonnes. On this stretch of the Danube, we conducted the transport in full shipping closure all the way under the Budapest bridges, which was not an easy operation under the normally „benchmark ” Margaret Bridge, but our TS 80 barges, a tugboat and our pusher tug Zsombor took the obstacles well.
