Connecting Mohács and Újmohács – The New Jewel of the Danube is Rising
The Mohács Danube Bridge is a planned road crossing over the Danube River, currently under construction between Mohács and Újmohács in Hungary.
The construction began on August 30, 2024, and represents far more than just the creation of a new piece of transport infrastructure. The project’s primary goal is to strengthen the region’s economic growth and enhance connectivity between the two banks of the Danube. The bridge will play a key role in stimulating both local and international traffic, ensuring smoother transportation and trade—particularly along the transit routes connecting the Balkans, Serbia, and the European Union.
According to the plans, the new Mohács Danube Bridge will be 756 meters long and 31.49 meters wide, featuring a modern design capable of safely and efficiently handling heavy traffic. It will offer a fast and convenient crossing for motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians alike. Sustainability is a top priority throughout the construction process: advanced technologies are being applied to minimize environmental impact and protect the Danube’s natural values.
The idea of building a bridge in this location has been in development for many years. Until now, crossing the Danube in this area was limited, hindering both economic activity and tourism. This project fulfills a long-cherished ambition of the local community, contributing to the region’s progress and boosting its touristic appeal.
In the coming years, HSP Ltd. will take an active role in the bridge’s construction, with a special focus on marine and waterborne support operations. By December 2024, our team had already begun on-site work, providing diving services and explosive ordnance disposal support from the water.
