Átmentem (Crossed Over) Show, Budapest
2023. április 15.
„Átmentem” (Crossed Over) was a historic artistic production of the Budapest Grand Circus, at the opening ceremony of the 10th International Theatre Olympics and on World Circus Day, in connection with the 150th anniversary of the unification of Budapest. The multiple circus festival award-winning artist, Jr. László Simet crossed the Danube at a height of 30 metres, 300 metres above the Danube on a 22-millimetre wire rope. The event, which was unique in Europe, also presented us with new and exciting challenges, as we had never done anything like this before.
The wire rope was stretched between cranes on both banks of the Danube, while twenty people on our three TS80 barges on the river manually stretched the wire to prevent excessive sway. Our company also provided the on-water services for the event: we ensured that the rope was transferred from one bank to the other during the preparations, we handled the transport of people on the water and we were responsible for safety during the event.
