During the first forty years of its existence, the water management system of Lake Tisza was extremely deteriorated and the reservoir silted up, causing water quantity and water quality problems.

In addition to Csongrád, the sidewall built in the project will provide flood protection for a further three settlements (Csanytelek, Felgyő and Tömörkény).

The Marcal is not one of our major rivers, but as a tributary of the Rába it can flood a significant area by collecting watercourses from the Bakony Mountains.

We built the main dike between Komárom and Almásfüzitő, a 14.3 km long flood protection line, the most important section of which runs along the main Vienna-Budapest railway line.
